Craftsmanship

Construction

Every ICON piece is built with premium materials and time-honored techniques, designed to deliver lasting comfort and structural integrity for years of daily use.

Kiln-Dried Solid Wood Frame

Every piece is built using a solid, kiln-dried hardwood-reinforced frame designed for long-term structural integrity. Frames are constructed from single, continuous sections of wood – never particle board or plywood – to ensure strength and stability where it matters most. All joints are fully corner-blocked and reinforced, creating a rigid foundation that supports the upholstery, suspension and daily use for years to come.

Suspension & Support

We offer two suspension systems, each engineered for lasting comfort and support. Our standard Pirelli webbing delivers a modern, resilient foundation, while 8-way hand-tied springs are available as an upgrade for clients who prefer a traditional approach.

Pirelli Webbing

Standard

Our standard seat suspension is constructed using premium Pirelli woven webbing, a proven system widely used in European upholstery for generations. Made from high-quality rubber, the webbing is stretched and woven into a supportive grid that delivers a consistent, comfortable sit across the entire seat.

Pirelli webbing offers high tensile strength with built-in elasticity, allowing the seat to flex naturally while maintaining proper support. The result is a resilient, balanced feel with a subtle bounce — supportive without feeling rigid. Its low-profile construction allows for clean, tailored upholstery lines while still providing excellent comfort and durability.

Reliable, adaptable, and easy to maintain, Pirelli webbing represents a modern, well-engineered approach to suspension that performs exceptionally well in both everyday use and refined, custom upholstery applications.

8-Way Hand Tied Springs

Upgrade

We offer 8-way hand-tied springs as an optional upgrade for clients who prefer a traditional approach to seat suspension. This method has been used in fine furniture for generations and is widely regarded as a longstanding industry benchmark.

In an 8-way hand-tied system, individual coil springs are set on a web base and tied by hand in eight directions—front to back, side to side, and diagonally. Each spring works independently while remaining connected to the surrounding network, allowing the seat to respond evenly to weight and movement. The result is a supportive, flexible sit with a steady feel over time and minimal noise.

Because this technique is an intensive process executed by skilled craftspeople, it requires significantly more labor and time, which is reflected in the added cost. While our standard Pirelli webbing benefits from modern materials and proven European construction – and delivers excellent comfort and reliability – 8-way hand-tied springs remain a thoughtful option for those who appreciate traditional craftsmanship and time-honored upholstery methods.

Seat Cushion Foam

The foundation of lasting comfort and support

It's a common misconception, but foam density is not the same as firmness. While firmness refers to how soft or firm a cushion feels when you sit, density speaks to the foam's durability and performance over time. Higher density foam contains more material per cubic foot, which means it better resists sagging, holds its shape longer, and offers superior support—even after years of daily use.

We offer three levels of foam density options as listed below, each offered in several firmness options.

1.8
Density
  • 1.8 density foam + crown insert
  • Standard residential-level foam quality
  • Most economical option

2.0

  • Upgraded foam quality & longevity
  • Balanced comfort & support

The foam we use is CertiPUR-US certified polyurethane foam, tested to meet strict standards for health, safety, and environmental friendliness. This certification means the foam is made without formaldehyde, heavy metals, and certain phthalates. It also ensures low VOC emissions for indoor air quality and is made without ozone depleters or harmful flame retardants.

Fiber

Resilient, Uniform Look Firmer, Supportive Feel Minimal Maintenance

Fiber is the standard fill for seat wrap & back cushions—a durable option for a cleaner, more structured look. For seat cushions, the fiber comes as a smooth sheet fitted around the foam core, adding softness while keeping the shape crisp. For back cushions, the fill is air-spun polyester designed to stay smooth and resist clumping.

Seams

Seam construction plays a key role in both the appearance and character of each piece. By default, most styles are finished with a tailored top stitch, selected to complement the overall design and upholstery material. Standard seam construction may vary slightly by style to ensure proper proportions and clean lines.

For further customization, we offer several optional seam treatments. Plain seams provide a clean, understated look with minimal visual interruption. Piping (also known as welt) adds a subtle corded detail that outlines the silhouette and highlights the shape of the piece. Double stitch seams introduce a more defined, crafted look with parallel lines of stitching, while flange seams create a relaxed, layered edge for a softer, more casual aesthetic.

Each seam option is executed with precision and can be selected to align with the desired style, fabric choice, and level of visual detail.

Quality Control

Every piece undergoes a thorough quality inspection before leaving our workshop to ensure it meets both our construction standards and the specific details of your order. From frame and upholstery to finishes and tailoring, each element is carefully reviewed for accuracy and craftsmanship. We take pride in what we build, and maintaining product integrity at every stage is a core part of our process.
