Hello! My name is Adam and it's my pleasure to tell you more about our family-owned business, and share with you what furniture has meant to our family since well before I was born.
For three generations, furniture has been the core of our family's legacy. Around the 1950s, my grandfather James decided that he wanted to follow his passion, which meant moving his family and life from the east coast to beautiful Southern California in order to pursue his dream of having his own furniture company. After years in a career that paid the bills but never fulfilled him, he wanted to build something that allowed him to work closely with clients in creating their dream furniture. He decided on Orange County – beautiful then, though very different from what it is today. He got to work right away on building his new furniture business and very soon after, he had achieved his dream of helping clients furnish their homes with quality furniture they truly loved.
The business continued to grow and after several years my grandparents had a son named Don (my father), who would go on to run the furniture company using the knowledge he had acquired throughout his adolescence and expand the company with several more stores across Southern California. Since that time many years ago, Don (who is still going strong in the business today) has helped many hundreds of thousands of families and clients design and bring to life countless pieces of handcrafted furniture for their homes. With a lifetime of experience in virtually every job you could imagine related to the furniture industry, including building and operating factories, selling retail and wholesale, etc, Don is still as passionate about furniture today as he was the day he first took over his father's store.
Rewinding back to the 1980s, as Don was continuing to build and expand his furniture company, he had a son named Adam (that's me). Nearly 100% of my earliest memories revolve around playing in the back of my dad's furniture showroom, and being excited to help clean, rearrange pillows and carry small objects from here to there. One memory I'll never forget is sitting with my father at his desk while I designed my first custom sofa using crayons – something we still joke about to this day. When I grew older and got my driver's license, I remember how excited I was to finally be able to drive and help with the furniture deliveries. As I continued to work in the family business, one of my favorite things about it became the process of greeting a customer as they walked through the door, helping them design the perfect piece of furniture for their family, driving to the factory to inspect it and make sure it was just right, then seeing their smile after I knocked on the door to deliver them their new custom furniture.
Many more years have passed since those days, but one thing has definitely not changed – the passion my father Don & I have for beautiful custom furniture and the joy of bringing it to life for our clients. As that brings us to today, we are pleased to introduce ICON Upholstery Collection – the culmination of our life's work and passion, where we create exceptional quality furniture offered to our wholesale dealers and designers, allowing them to furnish their clients' homes with high quality custom furniture, made exactly the way it should be for the specific client's home and space. While our product line and offerings are robust as they are, we happily accept requests for custom styles, and with our decades-long breadth of knowledge and experience, there's an awful lot that we can create.
